Why this program?
We started this High-Performance team to help create the next group of leaders and athletes in Tacoma.
We do this by having the best coaches, training programs, and resources for our student-athletes.
We believe in creating great people, not just great athletes.
MEET THE COACHES
Josh Gray
Head Coach & Sprints/Jumps/Strength & Conditioning
Certifications: B.S. in Exercise Science, CSCS, CES, USATF Level 1
Coach Josh is from Tacoma, Wa, and is the owner of Gray's Academy, a company specializing in fitness and sports performance training.
Accomplishments/Highlights:
Former head strength and conditioning coach at the University of Puget Sound for four years where he worked with all the varsity Olympic sports, the cheerleaders, and club teams.
He has been a high school strength and conditioning coach for five years, an assistant football coach for three years, a middle school baseball coach for two years, and is entering his eighth year as a track and field coach.
Josh has been in the fitness industry for ten years, and also works as a middle school teacher.
Richard Johnson
Sprints/Hurdles/Relays
Coach Rich has coached and taught in Tacoma his entire life with one purpose: To give back to kids like him - the kids who want to change their lives for the better. Too many kids are left with bad teachers, coaches, and mentors in their lives. This is what inspires him every day to bring his best self to each practice and competition.
Accomplishments/highlights:
Graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a degree in Exercise Science (minor in coaching)
A two-sport athlete (Football and Track) in college and was a Conference Champion in 100m & 4x100m dash.
USATF Level 2 certified in the Sprints/Hurdles/Relays
Head Track Coach for last 3 seasons (Coached total of 9 years in Tacoma)
Has won State, Districts, and Leagues with multiple teams and has coached athletes at every level (youth, competitive, college)
Lucas Hatton
Throws Coach (Hammer & Shot/Disc)
Coach Lucas has competed and coached in varying different arenas. Being a two-sport athlete in college (football and track) gives him a unique experience when training his athletes. That knowledge combined with his experience in Powerlifting and Strongman competitions and you have yourself an exceptional athlete and coach.
Accomplishments/Highlights:
Graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Pacific Lutheran University (Cum Laude)
USATF Level 1 Certified
A two-sport athlete in college (All-Conference Lineman & Conference Champion in Track and Field)
Has coached high school and club track and field for the last 5+ years.
Coached league champions in Shot Put and Discus.
Andrew Fuller
Distance Coach (800m-Marathon)
Coach Fuller has been a part of track and field and cross country for over 20 years, with experience being an athlete and coach. In his career, he's coached over 300 kids. At every level, he's won championships and been a part of 30 individual state medals.
Accomplishments/highlights:
USATF Level 2 in Endurance Events, Associates of Arts from Eastern Gateway Community College
As an athlete, was a school record holder in HS, 8 times All American in college, and ran professionally for over 10 years.
Coached 68 League Champions, 46 District Champions, and 25 individual State Champions
Coached the Number 1 one high school runner in the country (National Champion in 3200m - James Mwaura)
Has won league, district, and state championships as a Head XC and Head T&F Coach.
